One Year of HUE
It’s hard to believe it’s been one year since HUE: Hinoki / Cedarwood / Sandalwood first made its way into your homes, quietly filling spaces with its grounding and calming essence. As we reflect, we’re reminded of its inspiration – an experience that played on all our senses.
HUE was born from a transformative journey to Japan in March 2023, where we wandered the bustling streets of Tokyo, the peaceful canals of Kurashiki, and the tranquil landscapes of Awaji Island. Throughout our travels, we were continuously struck by the beauty of the colour blue. Everywhere we turned from the soft shades of the sky to delicately dyed textiles, tiled buildings, and rooftops – blue became our guide, each hue evoking a different emotion.
The rich, grounding aromas of Japanese woods shaped the air around us. The interplay of light and shadow across the grain and texture of aged timber, and the distinct scent of Hinoki wood, tied to a sense of peace and ritual, was something we knew we had to capture.
And so, HUE was born. A heart of refreshing, woody Hinoki honours the traditional ritual of bathing with intent. Earthy notes of Cedarwood add warmth, shifting with nature’s light and shadow, balanced by the smouldering depth of Sandalwood, echoing the slow burn of handcrafted incense.
